Beyond Beginner Guitar - Fall 2018

Guitar players with some experience will learn the chords, skills, and techniques that are a strong foundation for starting your guitar-playing journey. Learn how to strum simple tunes and how to make the most of your practice time. Acoustic guitar and picks are required. An electronic turner and capo are highly recommended.

Castle in the Clouds - Fall 2018

Welcome to Tom and Olive Plant's mountaintop estate, Lucknow, built in 1913-1914 high in the Ossipee Mountain Range. Known as Castle in the Clouds since its opening to the public in 1959, the house is an unusual example of Arts and Crafts architecture in New England, expressing that aesthetic movement's philosophy of living in harmony with nature. Designed by the architectural firm of J. Williams Beal & Sons of Boston, the house not only exhibits skilled hand craftsmanship in every aspect of its interior and exterior, but also features a number of technological innovations of the early 20th century. Groups will enjoy a self-guided tour of the Estate, visit the Gift Shop, Carriage House and Art Gallery. An Artisan Fair featuring local, handmade wares will take place in the Carriage House where guests can get a jump start on their holiday shopping. Lunch service is available as walk in from 11:00am to 3:00pm also in the Carriage House.

Bargain hunters, as well as those with extravagant tastes, will find an endless array of gorgeous home accessories, designer fashions, artisan jewelry, handcrafted holiday decor, tempting gourmet specialty foods and one-of-a-kind handcrafted gifts unavailable elsewhere.

Driving Dynamics - Fall 2018

The Maine Driving Dynamics Course offers all drivers the opportunity to improve their defensive driving abilities. This five-hour course will include discussion of collision avoidance techniques, safety issues, driver habits and attitudes, and the basic elements that constantly challenge drivers on Maine's highways. A certified Maine Driving Dynamics instructor teaches the course, and the course format engages students with lectures, videos, and class discussion/participation. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their driving record. Course can be taken for credit only once every 365 days. 


Fiction on the Fly: The Flash Fiction Workshop - Fall 2018
